The Johnathon Banks Foundation was founded by former professional boxer Johnathon Banks. Banks enjoyed a successful amateur career that saw him become a three-time National Amateur Champion at 178 lbs. He also went on to win several titles over the years.
After the passing of Emmanuel Steward, Banks assumed the role of head trainer of heavyweight world champion Wladimir Klitschko. In July 2015, Johnathon Banks replaced Chris Okoh as Dillian Whyte's trainer after the latter got injured.
He is the head trainer of Ceclia Braekhaus who has reigned as the undisputed female welterweight champion since 2014, and is the first woman in any weight class to hold the WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO titles simultaneously. Additionally she is one of only four boxers in history, female or male, to hold all four titles simultaneously, along with Bernard Hopkins (2004– 2005), Jermain Taylor (2005), and Terence Crawford (2017). In 2017, the Boxing Writers Association of America named Brækhus their inaugural Female Fighter of the Year.
In 2019 he became the head trainer of Gennady Golovkin also known as GGG, He is a two time middleweight world champion, having held the IBF and IBO titles since 2019.
In 2020 he also became the head trainer of Badou Jack who is a former world champion in two weight classes, having held the WBC super-middleweight title from 2015 to 2017 and the WBA light-heavyweight title in 2017.
